Fringe is my new "hook-up".

You guys might have forgotten how much I love watching TV series aside from movies, reading, music, food, etc. etc. etc. After doing a lot of series marathon the past months then taking off and focusing on my blogs, I have regained my "power" and discovered a not-so-brand new series to watch which actually got me hooked from Episode 1 and rediscovered my "feelings" for Joshua Jackson who by the way is my very first childhood crush.

That Typhoon Ondoy (Ketsana) has some good outcome amidst the disaster it brought us. I could list some of the "positive" things it brought our country but I'd focus on its personal effect on me if you don't want to read a long emotional entry again. ;) Some good things that happened was I was able to stay at home without feeling like a total homebody for doing so ergo I updated my blog every day with "useful" information and updates, and I get to update myself on my favorite series' season premieres and discovering a new one at that.

Fringe: Anna Torv, John Noble and Joshua Jackson.

Fringe reminds me a little of The X-Files although I haven't watched the show, I've caught glimpse of some episodes and I've seen the movie and there are some similarities like... yes, dealing with the "unexplained phenomena". I won't compare the 2 shows as I have moot knowledge on The X-Files. But Fringe... oh Fringe, you got me so hooked I was able to finish the entire first season in 2 days and I have caught up until the new episode of the second season.

Let me tell you a little overview, info and trivia about the show, Fringe:

1. It is an FBI-themed TV series.
2. It deals with scientific related phenomena (e.g. mutation, regeneration, teleportation, etc.).
3. Each episode is related to the other. It is not like CSI or Numb3rs that each "incident" or "accident" ends on every episode and just a few personal problems thrown on them. the flow of Fringe is something like how the show, 24, goes (minus the time).
4. Intriguing. Suspense filled. A little drama. Every episode will leave you hanging on to the next one.
5. The characters are awesome especially the father and son Bishop, portrayed by Noble and Jackson. They are so funny.
6. The first season has 20 episodes and the pilot is 1 hour and 30 minutes. The rest is at least 40 minutes.
7. Fringe means unconventional, experimental, innovative.
8. The Fringe team consists of FBI Agent Olivia Dunham, Dr. Walter Bishop, Peter Bishop and Astrid Farnsworth. Dr. Walter Bishop was institutionalized but still remembers how science works, having a 192 IQ. Peter Bishop is wanted and also blacklisted in some places, involved in several criminal/illegal activities.

And I'm going to share some of my favorite quotes / favorite lines/dialogues from the show:

1. Agent Olivia Dunham: Why would they do that? I mean, what would they want with me? What were they doing? Who could they be?
Walter: You're like a question machine.

2. Dr. Walter Bishop: "And this is a show...for children?" [concerning Spongebob Squarepants]
Astrid Farnsworth: "Yeah. It's huge."
Dr. Walter Bishop: "It's surprisingly profound. For a narrative about a sponge. Wouldn't you say?"

3. Dr. Walter Bishop: [on the phone with Peter Bishop] Hello Peter, this is me, your father, Walter Bishop.

Peter Bishop: Thank you Walter. I know who you are.

Dr. Walter Bishop: Excellent...

4. Olivia Dunham: Where did you learn that at, MIT?
Peter Bishop: No, I picked that up from reading a book, you should try it sometime, its fun.

If you guys have some free time to spare and you are into Scientific/Crime/Suspense shows then give Fringe a shot. I promise it will keep you entertained, one way or the other. I have seen quite a lot of series already and this one has potential.

Let me know what you think and if you have other shows to suggest. Oh, I have also started watching FlashForward. Will do an entry about that soon.

Hugs!

If you love Fringe, you must love Lost , if you are familiar with it. Fringe's producers and production ensemble are the same for Lost.
Fringe is like X-Files , only in the new century.
