For someone who is not as athletic as myself, I'm surprised why I even follow sporting events especially tennis and football. Seriously. I don't even have a sport that I play except for the occasional Wii Sports and the old-school Dance Dance Revolution which I doubt are considered as the real sporty thing.
Anyhow, tonight is a jam-packed night of sporting events: LA Galaxy vs. PH Azkals; Arsenal vs. Wigan; and Nalbandian/Schwank vs. Verdasco/Lopez, and I made sure that I finish work before football and tennis begin. I almost did it but not quite, I had to finish an article all throughout the LA Galaxy vs. PH Azkals match. Still glad it didn't take me until the Davis Cup to finish or else my concentration would be everywhere.
It blows though that Arsenal vs. Wigan and the Davis Cup Doubles are on at the same time, 11PM Manila Time. On the upside, Arsenal is shown at Star Sports (miraculously!), so I can still get to stream Davis Cup. Yey!
Ooooh, by the way, here's a sweet photo of David Beckham handing Manny Pacquiao his jersey at the match earlier:
photo from: ANC Alerts Twitter
Needless to say, LA Galaxy won over the PH Azkals with 6 goals to 1. It was a good first half though for the Philippines.
So okay, I have one eye on the TV for the Arsenal vs. Wigan and one eye on my laptop for the Davis Cup.
Who says non-sporty girls can't watch and enjoy sports? :)

Roger Federer's On-Court Interview
If you are a follower of mine on Twitter, then you've probably read a lot of tennis in the past weeks or so following the ATP World Tour.
But since I can't contain my excitement and joy over my favorite player's record breaking titles and well... records, I will bring these feelings to my blog and share it with more people other than my friends and Twitter followers.
I believe by now even my blog readers know how much of a tennis and Roger Federer fan I am. I am proud to be on #TeamFederer!
ATP World Tour Finals started last Sunday, November 20 and I didn't miss a 1st game match (10pm MLA time), more so a Roger Federer match even when it was second game match at 4am. Last night was the first game I missed and it's a Semi-Final match. How great was that? I got caught up with friends and just followed tweet updates about the ongoing semis between Federer and Ferrer.
Of course, Roger won and he is now on his 100th ATP Finals and hopefully 70th ATP Finals win!!!
Here's his on-court interview after defeating David Ferrer to advance to his 100th finals with 7-5 6-3:
A huge thank you to FedererNews for sharing this link and to kissakiss for the video upload.

Woot woot! He did it! Roger Federer won the Wimbledon title against Andy Roddick and now he's back to World Number 1 in the rankings!

The match was crazy! It was an epic! And I still cannot remove the smile off my face. It was one of those matches that I'd be so proud to say "Hey! I've watched that!" because it definitely is a record breaking Finals. I got tears on my eyes, I cannot stop clapping and cheering and I have this genuine smile that I cannot seem to wipe off.
It was a very long match between my two favorites with 5 sets, 5-7 7-6 7-6 3-6 16-14. Andy Roddick was AMAZING! If he wasn't playing against Roger he's definitely my bet. Remember, he's one of my favorites too. He improved A LOT! And I think he should get credit for it especially with the way he played earlier. He was good but not good enough to defeat Roger. Although I was feeling all glorious, I feel for Andy. It was obvious how he was holding back tears. Major effort! His time will come! Just keep playing the way he's playing now (or improve), he will definitely see his name on the wall with Sampras and Borg and all the other great tennis players.
Tonight is all about Roger Federer! And a little bit of Gavin Rossdale too. He was looking so hot in the box watching. I wonder where Gwen Stefani is. Anyway, I am off to bed now because I still have an interview to attend to in a few hours and I have to wait for the "guy's" call before I'll be able to go to "sleep". You know. He went out and I'm stuck at home which is also good cos I was able to watch the Finals. Oh what a happy happy night! 2:25 AM already here, the guy would probably call before 6 AM, interview schedule at 9 AM, I have to leave the house before 8 AM (Monday rush), eat breakfast, take a bath and get dressed, I obviously need to stretch the hourssssssssss! Looks like I'll be getting no sleep and would look like a zombie tomorrow. So much for an impression. I just have to impress them with my answers, I guess. LOL.
Thank you to Mommy Maria for wishing me luck for my interview!
I'll update you guys in the morning.
Hugs!

Roger Federer deserved this win!!
I am so psyched about Roger winning. Yes, we are on a first name basis. Although I was a bit disappointed at how Robin Soderling played this match. I'm not so sure he played his A-game but Roger certainly did! He won the match, 3-0. Can you believe that? Three to Love? Soderling scored nothing. He almost caught up on the second and third set though... almost. Roger nailed 16 aces even my brother could not believe it. Oh well, French Open 2009 IS for Roger Federer! He became the sixth man to win all Grand Slam titles! Another one of my all-time favorites, Pete Sampras won his 14th Grand Slam at age 31, Roger is only 27. I guess he'll up Sampras by a little bit more titles in the future.

I guess this one's a bit too fanatic. This guy leaped out of the crowd and ran up to Federer! Crazaay.

Roger Federer was emotional after winning his first Roland Garros and his 14th Grand Slam Title. Man, you are the best!

Andre Agassi was present at the awarding ceremony and was the one who handed Roger Federer his Championship trophy. I think Agassi was looking great as ever! It was emotional and sweet how tears streamed down Roger's face. We waited long for this win! He may not have won this championship against Nadal but it wasn't his fault, Nadal lost earlier than expected in the tournament. Roger Federer deserved this win! I defended this fact to my brother who kept on saying that it would be a much better match and much deserved win if it was Nadal he defeated. Yes, it might be a better match but it does not necessarily mean that it would be a much deserved win. Nadal lost! Nadal lost against Soderling and now Federer defeated Soderling. It is a very much deserved win! My brother said nothing after that. I know that he knows Federer played amazingly well throughout the tournament. He was even surprised with how many aces Federer nailed during this championship match alone. I guess his pregnant wife brought him moooooooooore inspiration. :)
The Winning Scores:
Federer 6 7 6
Soderling 1 6 4
Can't wait for Wimbledon and US Open!

Dinara Safina didn't exactly win in the Finals against Kuznetsova. Okay, okay. And... I was not able to watch the game last night, not really anyway. I don't know. I was stuck here staring at my laptop screen the entire night while watching the Live Score of the game. I'm weird. Based on the scores that I've seen last night, I'm pretty sure Kuznetsova played good (I'm really avoiding saying Safina didn't play as hard). The match only lasted 2 sets with 6-4 6-2. Yeah, I'm okay. Safina could be high-tempered sometimes when she plays and I could imagine her losing focus and all so this was pretty expected.

Now, what I am totally looking forward to is tonight's Men's Finals! I know Federer kind of sucked in clay court and lately he's getting this habit of making the match last until the last set which always almost gives me a heart attack but I am hoping he will win this French Open! The match will start 9PM (Philippine time) / 3PM (Paris Time). This is most likely the highlight of my week and I would stay up, however late it is and sleepy I am, just to watch it. :)
And most importantly, this is going to be the last time (for a while) you'll read about me talking about tennis until Wimbledon starts again. Haha! Exciting!

It's Federer vs. Soderling!!
This entry cannot wait until tomorrow (or rather until I wake up since it's already almost 3AM) because I am just so ecstatic that Federer won against Del Potro tonight! So did, Soderling against Gonzalez earlier.
Hello, Roger Federer vs. Robin Soderling for the Finals!!

Yes Roger! You did it!! Up to the Finals you go and I pray you'll win!

Thumbs up for making it to your first French Open Finals!

Ooh if you could only see how happy I am right now! Dang Federer kept playing until the last set. Del Potro won the first set, Federer the second, Del Potro the third and finally Federer the fourth and last set. He always makes me nervous! It was such a great game! Now I'm nervous yet excited at the same time for the Finals. I hope Roger wins. I hope Roger wins. I hope Roger wins. Positive vibes. Positive vibes. Positive vibes. Come on guys, send positive vibes! I am just tooooooo joyful about this! :) I really am!
Scores:
*Robin Soderling 6 7 5 4 6
Fernando Gonzalez 3 5 7 6 4
*Roger Federer 3 7 2 6 6
Juan Martin Del Potro 6 6 6 1 4
Tomorrow will be the Women's Finals:
Safina vs. Kuznetsova
And on Sunday will be the Men's Finals.
I guess it's obvious that I am more into the Men's but it's not totally it, it just happened that I have STRONG bets in the Men's compared to the Women's but hey, Safina is one of my bets so I'm also hoping she'll win. I will be extremely happy if Safina and Federer wins this tournament! :)

More French Open Updates and some previous posts.
Just a very quick update:
Women's Singles Quarter Finals result:
Safina won against Cibulkova
Kuznetsova won against Stosur
Finals: Safina vs. Kuznetsova
Rooting for: SAFINA
Men's Singles Quarter finals later:
Soderling vs. Gonzalez
Federer vs. Del Potro
Rooting for: SODERLING and FEDERER
I am still not feeling very well today and my eyes could not take being in front of my laptop screen for a very long time so I would be posting some of my favorite entries here, check them out if you haven't already and please feel free to drop in a comment or two.
CLICK!
There, my past entries that I enjoyed sharing here. Now, to take some meds, some rest while lying down and listening to music and to decide whether or not to go out later tonight. A lot of cons and only one pro but that one pro is a heavy one.
Cons:
Unpredictable weather
I live in a gated subdivision and when it rain, it is absolutely difficult to go out and queue for a cab
Heavy traffic, flood and budgeted budget and basically the top 1 reason why I don't want to go out is because
I AM SICK.
Pros:
This get together is for my friend who's going back to the US next week.
Argh!! I really should get some rest now. I'll think about this later. So far, it's sunny and hot outside that means the only 2 things that are making this hard for is the fact that I am sick and that I have only so much money left to spend for this kind of thing (I already alloted less than P1,000 for this event).

French Open 2009 Semi-Finals Update!
Yay! Federer won against Monfils last night during the Quarter Finals and Del Potro won against Robredo in the other court. It's now down to Federer vs. Del Potro and Soderling vs. Gonzalez in the Semi-Finals and whoever wins will play each other during the Finals. I can't wait! I hope it's Federer against Soderling. It's the next best thing since Soderling defeated the number 1 seed, Nadal. Woot woot! Meanwhile in the Women's Singles, S. Williams lost to Kuznetsova last night and Azarenka lost to Safina in the Quarter Finals so it's Safina vs. Cibulkova and Kuznetsova vs. Stosur in the Semi-Finals. On tonight: Safina vs. Cibulkova.
I may sound all hyped up and perky today but I am actually not. Well I am, about tennis but I am feeling kind of down in the weather. It started late afternoon yesterday, I got this thing that you feel in your throat when you're about to catch a cough and colds and then when I woke up earlier I feel my head getting heavy and my skin ache when you touch it like it's burning on top of the throat thing. That's the crap that I am feeling right now and I don't like it. The weather here is crazy. I know it's also crazy in the US right now since it's supposed to be summer but it's cloudy, cold and drizzling. Believe me, we here in the Philippines know how you feel. We had typhoon signal in the middle of summer last April. CRAZY. June here is supposed to be the start of the rainy season and I shouldn't be surprised but it's annoying how it would rain cats and dogs for an hour and so and then stop for a couple of minutes and then start raining cats and dogs again. It was literally that hard a rain and there isn't even any typhoon! It's been like this for nearly a week already! Don't get me wrong, I love the bed weather I guess what's bothering me is that I am supposed to go out tomorrow night from some friend's get together before she leaves again for the US and I don't like going out in this kind of weather feeling this kind of crap. I hate!!

Congratulations! You make us proud!
Now, go home and shower us with half the amount that you've won.
Hahaha! Kidding!
Seriously, Manny Pacquiao makes us Filipinos proud to be one every time he wins! It's like magic how the streets of the city turns out to be a ghost town whenever he's having a fight. The streets are quiet and what you would most likely hear are the cheers and screams of the people inside their homes, offices, restaurants, cinemas, stores etc. rooting for Pacman to win!
It's crazy.
I love you Oscar de la Hoya, you're such a pretty boy but I'm team Pacman all the way!
So, who's gonna be the next one to challenge our man? Hahaha!
