2010 Movies.

What is with new year that most people enjoy making different kinds of lists for the year that was and the year that will be? Blessings received, resolutions, things to do, things to accomplish, etc. I won't judge because I like making lists myself. I even enjoy making lists for things to do in a day to day basis. I'm crazy.
So anyway, this post is dedicated to all movie buffs out there who are making lists of movies to look forward to for this year. Here's my very own list and please feel free to leave a comment in case I forgot any:

1. Sex and the City 2: May 2010 showing. I cannot wait! I even set a date already with my sis right after I read online about the worldwide screening date! ;)

2. Iron Man 2: May 2010 showing--am I right? I have seen the trailer on YouTube and it looks good!

3. Shutter Island: February 2010 showing. This one looks like my kind of movie, something that will keep me guessing, thinking about the twist. I like!

4. Alice in Wonderland: March 2010 showing. Johnny Depp is an exceptional actor and one of my favorites! I won't miss this one.

5. Twilight Saga Eclipse: June 2010 showing. I am not sure why I am looking forward to this one except for wanting to see Edward. What I'm sure about is that there will be a sea of people watching and cheering for Team Jacob or Team Edward and I'm sure it will disappoint me.

6. Legion: January 2010 showing. Other than psych thriller/mystery, I'm also into end-of-the-world kind of movies and I've seen the trailer of this one and it looks promising.

7. Valentine's Day: February 2010 showing. An all-star cast, a funny trailer and a date-less valentine's day would surely make me watch this one! Haha! Seriously.
8. Killers: June 2010 showing. I'm going for being a chic this year and watch chick-flick more often and so far, Katherine Heigl's movies are all fairly good except this particular movie is not as cheeky as the previous ones.

9. The A-Team: June 2010 showing. After The Hangover, I developed a huge crush on Bradley Cooper (but I didn't like All About Steve considering the I love Sandra Bullock). Hopefully this one won't disappoint me.

10. Knight and Day: July 2010 showing. I have always been a Cameron Diaz and Tom Cruise fan so I'll give this one a go.

11. Life As We Know It: December 2010 release date but since it's December I think it's either gonna be shown here earlier or later to give way to Metro Manila Filmfest. Anyway, this is another Katherine Heigl movie with Josh Duhamel. :)

So, any more movies I forgot? How about you? What are the movies you look forward to this year? :)

Oh, my movie agenda this week include:

1. Alvin and the Chipmunks
2. Sherlock Holmes

Hooray!

Movie Review: T2 & Friday the 13th.

The original plan last Sunday was to watch T2 at Powerplant. So we did, Anna, Ace and I, met up at Powerplant around 5PM and the movie started 5:40PM.

T2 is a local (Filipino) horror film about a young girl, about to be taken by "engkantos" (supernatural entities) on her 9th birthday, who met an NGO volunteer and helped her survive her "calling".

The movie made me jump in some scenes, it's pretty okay, the effects and the story. And since it came from Star Cinema, it didn't disappoint me at all. I love Derek Ramsey! :)

So okay, I said the original plan was to watch only T2 and then we ended up watching another movie right after T2 finished. We've already seen Fast and Furious 4 so there's only 1 left:
Friday the 13th. 2 scary movies in one night.

Jason freaked me out more than T2 although T2 wasn't really bad. It's just Friday the 13th is a little gory. I'm at a loss for words on how to describe this. Not that it's the greatest scariest movie of all time but it's indescribable. Watch this one if you're into gory movies. Jason has been around for a long time. He never dies! Haha!

Overall, the two movies were well worth the 4 hours straight of watching. :)

Movies to look forward to this year.

My third installment of the many lists I have for this year is about the movies that I am looking forward to seeing this year. I've been reading other websites, watched many trailers and saw several reviews and opinions about a lot of movies yet to be shown and I can't wait for 'em.

Here is the list of the movies that I can't wait to watch this year:

1. Transporter 3. - I posted a trailer of it here in blog and if you haven't seen it yet just click HERE.

2. Angels and Demons. - Hello again Professor Langdon. I sure hope it's a much better adaptation than Da Vinci Code. I've read the book years ago and I enjoyed it. Dan Brown is a very good writer.

3. Confessions of a Shopaholic. - I've seen the trailer weeks ago and found it funny. I haven't read the book but I've read good reviews about it and I'l give the movie a chance before I buy the books.

4. The Curious Case of Benjamin Button. - The story's unusual and no matter how I avoid watching drama movies, Brad Pitt would make this one a little bit tolerable for me.

5. Harry Potter and The Half-Blood Prince. - Moved from its usual November screening last ear to sometime this July, I'm sure this would still make it big like the rest of the previous Harry Potter series.

6. He's Just Not Into You. - The book was a fun read and I'm curious how they'll adapt it into a movie.

7. Race To Witch Mountain. - Another Disney film. Maybe it would be a big hit like The Game Plan, maybe not, but the trailer was amusing enough that even my Mom is looking forward to this.

8. Fast and the Furious 3. - The trailer for this has been shown months ago and I can't wait for it!

9. 17 Again. - I may not be the biggest fan of High School Musical and Zac Efron but he's looks damn hot in this movie, or at least in the trailer. Kinda reminded me of Freaky Friday with all the dad being 17 again minus the mom-daughter switch.

10. X-Men Origins: Wolverine. - I've been a fan of the X-Men since I was in elementary school so it goes without saying that I've watched the cartoons, all of the movies and now I can't wait for the Origins.

11. Transformers 2. - Bumbleebee! Jazz! and LadiesMan. Hahaha!

12. Ice Age 3. - I noticed a lot of movies are sequels and stuff and I hope I wouldn't be disappointed with this, not that it's disappointed me before. Ice Age always gives me a good laugh every time I watch it.

13. Sherlock Holmes. - I like Guy Ritchie's movies except for Swept Away as I could remember. Robert Downey Jr. and Jude Law are a plus factor in this one for me. :)

14. Bride Wars. - Anne Hathaway!

15. After Dark Horrorfest Movies. -Movies from the Horrorfest are really good.

Hmm. Did I miss out on any good movies? Let me know if I have! :)

It really stood still!

My friends and I watched The Day The Earth Stood Still yesterday at Shangri-La. We didn't really planned on seeing this, it's just that it's the only movie that's new this week and neither of us have seen. We've already watched Twilight, I've already watched Four Christmases and Apple doesn't like Bolt so we all decided to go with the only new movie in Shangri-La.

This post is going to serve as a review for this movie and it would explain my title for this entry.

*May contain spoilers*

The Day The Earth Stood Still is a Sci-Fi movie starring Keanu Reeves, Jennifer Connelly, Kathy Bates, and Jaden Smith (Will Smith's son).

In case some of you don't know, this is a remake of the 1951 classic movie of the same title.

I haven't seen the movie and I have no immediate plans on seeing it either what with the not-so-good experience I have with this modern version.

I personally think the movie started well. Gripping, intriguing, fast paced and it did went on smoothly. It just kind of lost my interest after a couple of minutes when the orb appeared. It was supposed to collide with our planet but it just landed instead. It's a little funny how there are cops, military and other government agencies there with guns and weapons. What are they going to do with the "meteor" (NASA kind of predicted it to be as such)? Shoot it to death? There were choppers roaming on top of the thing, cops, military, the FBI and a couple of scientists surrounding it. The scientists were acceptable since it's supposed to have come from outer space and all that science stuff they could study and share their knowledge about.

Other parts of the movie weren't good either. The characters were quite weak, the dialogues can also be a little funny and off and the story... I don't know where to start! I wouldn't say that the movie has no point at all because it actually have a lesson to it but my friends and I felt that it was kind of rushed. The ending that is. The storyline is weak.

The plot is this: Keanu Reeves is an "alien", kind of like the leader, protecting the Earth from us humans. The aliens are going to wash out our existence to save the Earth because we are killing it will all the hate, the wars, the terrorism, the pollution, etc. He wanted to speak with all the world leaders about his purpose here but is held back by the US Secretary of Defense.
The orbs that started appearing all over the world is like an arc in Noah's Arc gathering all creatures it could before the flood.

I get the point, it's like an Inconvenient Truth turned into a movie. Making us see what would happen to our planet if we don't start caring for it. But this movie didn't succeed to really emphasize on that part. It's funny how the conflict was just "resolved" with the other 2 characters crying and hugging and forgiving each other. It's not convincing at all!

Keanu's purpose other than killing all humans is to talk to the world leaders and probably explain what we've been doing wrong with our planet and hopefully change his original plan. It didn't went that way though. It's not convincing, really!

I give this movie a 4 out of 10 stars. Not worth seeing in the theaters and paying big bucks for it.

Transporter 3.

I wonder when Transporter 3 would be shown here in the Philippines.

I have been waiting for this for months now and it's already been shown in the U.S. last November 26.

I hope it won't be next year since Metro Manila Film Festival is just around the corner. Only Filipino Movies would be shown in the theaters starting Christmas Day, December 25 until probably the second week of January 2009.

Anyway, here's the trailer of Transporter 3 I got from YouTube.

Four Christmases!

The #1 movie in America this week, kicking off Twilight, High School Musical 3 and Bolt.

I watched this movie yesterday at Powerplant and it was good. Really funny. I find the problem and the resolution quite a bit hurried though. The movie was just an hour and a half long and most of the scenes didn't actually introduce the would-be-problem.

Reese Witherspoon and Vince Vaughn were cute as a couple. I'll give them that. They're characters were funny and entertaining.

There were no dull or boring scenes, there was however a vibe of rushing the movie to end. The conflict didn't even last 15 minutes! Other movies usually have the last 30 minutes trying to resolve the conflict but not Four Christmases. After just a couple of minutes their differences were patched up with no flashbacks, playbacks or whatever it is that made them realize whatever they've realized.

All in all, the movie is okay. Enjoyable and entertaining.

Go watch! :)

3 movies in 4 days.

Not bad, huh?

Mirrors last Wednesday.
Mag-ingat ka sa...Kulam last Friday.
Eagle Eye yesterday (Saturday).

All of them movies are good except for the local movie, Kulam. My friend and I just laughed while watching it but there really are some scenes that almost gave me a heart attack! LOL.

While watching the trailers, I can't wait to see these:

Nights in Rodanthe
Fast and the Furios
The Strangers
House Bunny

I know, Fast and the Furious won't be until next year but I hope the other 3 would be sometime this year. I remember watching the trailer for Happy Feet for a while and then it showed after almost a year. Tsk.
