Movie: I Love You, Goodbye.

Christmas day here in the Philippines also means that Metro Manila Film Festival is on and that only Filipino movies (particularly those who are entries of MMFF) are being shown in the theaters for about 2 weeks.

I don't look forward to the MMFF except when Judy Ann Santos and Ryan Agoncillo had their movies but I do watch at least one movie during the course of the festival. I cannot believe Shake, Rattle and Roll is still alive and that I always watch it. :| Moving on, the only promising movies for me in this year's MMFF d Mano Po 6 and I Love You, Goodbye.

Mano Po 6 because there's Megastar Sharon Cuneta, Zsa Zsa Padilla, etc. and previous Mano Po's have proven their award-winning "skills" but even though I think it'll be this year's Numero Uno in the box-office I don't think I will watch it in the theaters. No. Come on, how many Mano Po's are there? 100?!

And then there's Star Cinema's entry: I Love You, Goodbye and the great story and wonderful actors (except for Kim Chiu). I watched it yesterday with my BFF at Shangri-La. Uhm, yeah... my BFF made fun of me the entire time because 1. my BFF is a dude 2. hence, he does not watch Filipino movies especially MMFF entries and 3. he had no idea that ILYG is a Tagalog movie when I told him the day before that we should watch it, he was surprised when he asked me 4 hours before the screening time and I told him YES. So he had no choice but to watch it with me. :)

I think the movie was good however, there were some scenes and dialogues that are... bad. Not bad that it's gross or anything in that category but bad that's could have been better, bad because I don't like Kim Chiu's portrayal, her voice and the way she talks and oh, Gabby Concepcion's acting is seriously not my type. You guys better watch it and let me know what you think about the movie and the actors.

Overall, I Love You, Goodbye is a good watch because of the story and because of Angelica Panganiban and Derek Ramsey. :)

New Moon Movie.

I was lucky enough to buy tickets of New Moon 1 week in advance for the first day screening. I wasn't too excited but I was definitely looking forward to watching it.

So yesterday, my 2 cousins and I were set to meet up at the mall an hour before the screening time. There were a lot of teenagers, young kids with their Moms and couples lobbying outside the movie house and lined up at the entrance. I suddenly felt a bit excited to see Robert Pattinson again.

The movie house was FULL. No seats vacant.

The End.

I wasn't too happy with the movie. I wasn't even close to being satisfied. It was okay. The Twilight movie, the first one, was way better than New Moon and I was even disappointed with it. Yeah. I'm such a spoiler. Not that I regret watching it or anything but my favorite conversation of Edward and Bella in the book was not included in the movie and it was to die for! Grr. I also think that the movie was kind of hurried or rushed or.... okay, a little (just a little) mediocre for my taste. I ended up listening to my audiobook version and reading the book before going to bed last night. I just had to feel that feeling I felt when I first read it. Sigh.

You guys should see it for yourselves though. Maybe it will appeal to some of you. :) I know some who were happy with the movie. I guess it's not really good when you have read the book and then you go see the movie. At least not in this case.

I give it a 5 out of 10. 5 all because of Edward. :)

Her first day.

As I've mentioned in my earlier entry, my friend already arrived yesterday at 4 AM. My 2 friends and I who are going to pick her up and her brother at the airport were late by an hour cos their flight weren't supposed to arrive until 5:05 AM. PAL schedules are either super early or super late. Never on time.

We weren't that late, we arrived before 6 AM at the airport. Went straight to their house in QC to dislodge their luggage and pick up their parents. Kuya Paul drove their car with their parents and Kat rode with us. We had breakfast at Pancake House in Metrowalk. It was a good 1 and a half drive because of the super heavy traffic yesterday.

We were all starving when we got there  and we all ordered Beef Tapa except for Kat's mom who ordered Omelette instead. After about an hour of eating, we went our separate ways. Us 4 headed to Apple's dorm to pass an hour of waiting for the opening of the malls.

10 AM we headed on to Megamall to buy leggings. Only the two Katrinas bought cos as much as I want to, I don't really have the budget to buy anything (except for food) at the moment.
Then we went to Shangri-La to watch The Day The Earth Stood Still at 12:20 PM screening. I'm going to write a review about that movie later.

Ate soup and some dimsum at Mongkok after. The service yesterday there sucked bigtime! We were all irritated because first, 2 of us (Abs and Apol) didn't really get enough decent sleep and 2 of us (Kat and I) didn't sleep AT ALL, second, we only asked for house water and we asked for it more than 3 times before they served it to us, third, Apol ordered Buchi, we waited for more than 15 minutes and we followed it up after that only to find out that we have to wait for another 15-20 minutes because they just cooked it so cancelled it and asked for the bill instead. We waited another 5 minutes for the bill to arrive. Annoyed, irritated and pissed we paid the exact amount and didn't leave them any tip! Here's the greatest part of all, there weren't even that many guests eating! There were only about 3-4 other tables occupied with only 3-5 persons sitting. How great a service is that?

Moving on, we strolled around for a couple of minutes before deciding to retire. Our group driver, drove us all home. Kat first, me second and Apol third. Heavy traffic as usual. Thank you big time Abs!

When I got home at around 6 PM, I just ate a bowl of Cheerios, brushed my teeth, changed my clothes and hit the sack already. I slept for a good 14-15 hours! I was so sleepy and tired that I didn't even have the energy to accompany my mom to her nail spa appointment earlier today at 10 AM.

I have a couple of things to blog about today so I'll get started with the others.

See you!

TWILIGHT.

I know I'm sick and all but I couldn't take not to watch Twilight today. I could've gone some other day but today's much more okay to go out.

Besides, my mind was set to watch the special screening of Twilight later tonight but thanks to my very forgetful friend- and i say that with love- she forgot to get me tickets and she texted me yesterday that it's sold out already. I tried my best high school friends but they have their other set of friends already and most of my college friends are all M.I.A. That leaves me ALONE. I have no problem with it though. I'm kinda used to watching movies in the theaters alone anyway.

So, back to TWILIGHT-- I woke up at around 9:30 AM and left the house at quarter to 11 AM and arrived at Shang 11 AM something. I intended to leave home early just so I could buy a ticket for an earlier screening time. I've heard yesterday that most screening times are sold out already. Luckily, 1:15 PM, the first screening has still a number of seats available.

I passed the time at Starbuck's in 6th. The barista was kind enough to brew me a Basic Black tea since their available Iced Tea today is Passion. I really appreciated it that for the first time in a long time, I gave them a tip. :)

Anyway, there's my Grande Basic Black and my movie ticket. I'm such a loner.  I decided to go in early so I went to the Cinebar and bought myself a large Buy-the-bucket and I noticed that there were many high school students all lined up. Seriously, how come they are all out of school at 12:30 PM on a Wednesday? Another reason why I wanted to catch the movie in an earlier time is because I'm certain that there would be less "kids" cos it's a school day and it's school time. Guess I was wrong.

I went inside the cinema quarter to 1 just in time for the movie trailers. I love watching movie trailers.

The second that the light were off and the "Summit" appeared on screen, the viewers (I'm pretty sure it was MOSTLY the younger viewers) started swooning and making "Ooohs" and "Aaahs". Don't ask how they reacted the first time Edward (Robert Pattinson) appeared. They were making funny sounds.

The movie was good. Really okay but it's nothing compared to the book. Not in my personal opinion. Although the book was not really that well-written, it's much more sweeter and my imagination was far better than the movie. At least I think.

Robert Pattinson wasn't the Edward that I pictured, so is Bella but they were okay. Nothing out of the ordinary, just okay.

There were a few "alterations". Some scenes that were shown was not really in the book and vice versa. Although in totality, the movie followed the book.

I'm not going to spoil it for everyone. Just go watch it! I know you will. :)

Can't wait for New Moon! I read it got the green light to start filming already sometime soon.

Exciting!

Mirrors.

I'm back from watching Mirrors earlier with Cathy. The movie was okay. Although it wasn't as scary as I expected it to be. The story was good but I don't think I can say the same for the actors. There are some scenes that are dull and boring. I loved the ending though.

Painful Friday.

I've been waiting for this movie for some time. The trailer is intriguing and looks good. I am supposed to watch it today with my friend, Cathy, but I am suffering for the pains of monthly womanhood. It hurts like hell. I don't experience this often but this time's a little too painful than before. I can't even keep my attention to one thing.

Also, I have been planning on uploading some photos here today about my past few days: more Cathy's Surprise Birthday Party, Jelo's Birthday Celebration and yesterday's defeat of La Salle. I'll do it later, I PROMISE! I'll just let a little of this pain go away so I can keep my focus.

Later,
Mara
